About Kanamaharagi

14 Nov 2008

It is rare that we should not know whether a gorilla is male or female, but in the case of Kanamaharagi he/she is always hiding so we just cannot tell. He/She is often with Mapendo, the mother, and she is always quite aggressive so we don’t want to get too close. And now Kanamaharagi is following suit and we think he/she will also become aggressive eventually. Like Mother like Son (or Daughter) as they say!

This photo - an update to this post - was taken in December 2008 and is the first photo we ever managed to take of Kanamaharagi.

So Kanamaharagi is an usual young gorilla in that he/she doesn’t play too much with the other young gorillas in the group, and with Mapendo they tend to keep to themselves.

Of course we have no idea what happens when we are not there! Maybe it is all different, but we don’t think so.
